Hi All,
I would like to replace my old D-Link 624 router with a new Linksys router. I have a Motorola NUM100 modem box and would like to know how to get the new router recognized by the modem box. Verizon wants to charge me $100 to "update the firmware" and (I am guessing) send me one of their routers. Any help with this? Please...

Make sure you release the WAN DHCP lease on the D-Link (assuming it has that functionality).
If you can't release the DHCP lease on the D-Link, you may have to call VZ to release the DHCP lease.
Switch out the D-Link for the Linksys.
Reboot your STBs.
You shouldn;t have to do anything with the NIM-100.
BTW, the NIM-100 is a media bridge. It is not a modem.
