Reversed upload and download speeds

Ok, so today I got home eager to get on the internet because 5 days ago my family upgraded from Fios's 5/2MBPS that we signed up with long ago. They said that it would take 5 days to process my order thru the system and the new speeds would be active by Today. So, I logged onto my iMac, and went straight onto speedtest.net to check out how fast the internet actually was. What came back was so weird, I got instead of 15 Down and 5 up, i got about 3.91 Down and 17.20 Up. Can anyone out there tell me how this could happen? I also did the speed test on a Dell Computer we had just collecting dust around the house and we got 5.11 Down and 15.33 Up. Odd huh?

*Also they are both connected wirelessly.

Well, neither here nor there but the first thing Verizon will tell you is that they do not guarentee wireless signal. Does not matter what the speeds say on wireless. you must first connect wired and THEN get a speed test.

Having said that, there are several things that can cause this

try rebooting the router (power down and wait 15 seconds) and try the speedtest again.

try resetting the router (press and hold the reset button on the back of the router for 15 seconds)

try optimizing the computer

Last try calling tech support and see if they can reboot the ONT.  If none of these change (remember to test with wired connection otherwise Verizon will not even look at your results) then they may have to check the network. Likely one of these will help.

Also check with multiple speedtest sites. Although I do like speedtest.net I have found that they dont always give accurate results. Just so you can elimiate all that you can, also try www.speakeasy.net/speedtest . That way you have more results to work with.
