Ridiculously Slow Speeds Since 2/23

Edit: We're in NJ. I noticed others are in NYC with the same issue.

Since about 2/23 our FiOS internet has been unusable. I work from home and my girlfriend has online classes, and these connection issues are making us furious since we cannot do anything with the connection dropping out.

The issue absolutely is with FiOS service, not our hardware, especially because I see others having the same problems. At random times while we're online, our Internet service purely stops working and we can't access any Web resources AT ALL. However, our router still has a green "Internet" light and 192.168.1.1 shows our Internet connection as "Good" (LOL).

A few minutes ago we noticed another sporadic outage thet started around 1:55AM. When I noticed it I ran two ping tests; one to the router, and one to google.com.

C:\Users\walleb>ping google.com -t

Obviously this is not indicitive of a GOOD connection. Look how sporadic that is. Below is the simultaneous ping test to our router:

I was on chat last night with Verizon support and they just told me the usual crap... reset the router, power cycle it, reset our signal, etc... When will this be fixed? I cannot perform my job from home with these issues nor can my girlfriend do her final exams this week.

I'll be swiftly canceling this "service" if it's not fixed ASAP. What are we paying for?

P.S. FiOS TV works fine.

Greetings,

I don't know if you are aware but there was a major outage in parts of NYC and NJ last night. I spoke to a senior engineer. I can go into details if you like however, they reassured me that it will be back to normal for the greater NYC area and the remaining parts by 5:00pm in the evening today. I cannot comment on NJ but fingers crossed. Hope you get your service restored soon.

Regards

VSY

I'm in Staten Island, NY.   I just called Verizon tech support because although I was able to connect last night, most web pages loaded extremely slow, if at all, before timing out.  I even tried to do a speed test although I knew that was a joke.   I rarely ever have speed issues.  I have the 75/35 pkg and  when I tested the speed last night, it wouldn't even start!   I waited until this morning and although I can connect, it's the same issue.   The Verizon tech said he saw no outages in my area or in NYC.

I live in Manhattan and noticed the speed issue last night. Can't even complete the speed test. Just stalls there for a few minutes. Tried rebooting the router a few times, same thing.

We, several people I know, have been experiencing the same thing in a small town in Massachusetts, CSRs do the usual "reset the router" song and dance but it either doesn't work or coincides with the network returning to normal for other folks who don't do a thing ... other than monitor pings to Google as you did, which showed approx >  95% packet loss but not 100% and DNS resolving seemed unaffected, unless its using a locally cached routing table on the router itself (??no idea if Gen 2 routers do this)

Last occurrence for us was Feb 25th from 9:50 - 10:45 AM EST.

We're trying to organise the information we have to present to VZ to ask them to explain how 3 or possibly many more of their routers suffer identical issues at identical times, since they are reluctant to admit to what seems a  broader issues on their network, or are simply unaware that their network appears to be  massively throttled for residential users at seemingly arbitrary times of the day.

Here in Melrose MA I've been experiencing crappy internet connection for the last two days.

Request timeout for icmp_seq

Last year I had months of slow, intermittant internet access...which magically went away.

I recently upgraded to 50/25 for $10 a month extra - what a joke.

Close to cancelling.

Same here in Worcester, dog slow.

Tech came out but said the problem is elsewhere.

I think there is a huge outage going on.
