Router Password

Hey guys,

I'm trying to access my router.  I went to the http in my browser.  I enter the username.  When I go to enter the password each keystroke I make outputs different amounts of characters....I'm not sure how to describe this.  I'm not sure what is being outputted because the password has black dots to make it so you can't see whats type.  All I know is more characters are being outputed than what I'm typing.

say my Passord is: password1

I type 'P' and 3 characters show up. Then I type "a" and 2 more characters show up.  It's buggy.  Is this something installed by verizon to keep me out of the router??

I've tried with firefox and internet explorer to make sure it's not a browser issue.  Any ideas??

going to reply to my question.  I just read the sticky on this.  However, I tried both password and password1 and they both didn't work.  What else could the password be?  I've never reset it.

Ignore the extra characters.  That is a security feature.

Look on the router label for label for the username and password.  They are case sensitive.  If your model router doesn't have that info on the label try using "password" (lowercase) or the s/n (case sensitive).

Username is probably "admin"  (lowercase).

If you have tried and failed several times it may be locked up.  So wait a day or try resetting it.

he's right, the extra characters are a normal security feature.   You aren't in fact typing extra characters, the router is displaying them to confuse shoulder surfers.
