Router only showing 100 not 1000
Not applicable

New Fios install today. I am using my own router. With most devices including my laptop and cable modem, I get a nice green light indicating 1000 full duplex i.e., gigabit. When I plugged in the cat6 to the ONT, I only get the orange light i.e., 100 full duplex.

The tech told me this is because my service is only 100/100, but I've not seen this happen with any other device in my IT experience. Furthermore, I'm getting ~65/90.

What gives?

I reset the ONT power and the handshake with my router is now 1000 full duplex.

Odd behavior from the ONT, but it's working now and I'm getting the full 100/100 over WiFi.

I hope somebody else searching for this answer like I was comes across this and finds it helpful!

Do keep an eye on the link. If it flips back to 100Mbps or has packet loss, your terminations or cable run are dodgy and need to be re-done. Usually it's the terminations.
