Router swap

Message 1 of 2

i bought an actiontec router with red band.  I was trying to switch it with my quantum gateway to save money.  The thing is that I lose Internet when I hooked up the actiontec.  I hooked everything up the same as it was on my gateway.  Does Fios need to activate this actiontec router? Thanks

No. You need to do this.

Log in to old router.

Find the option to release the DHCP IP on the wan side.

Then you can hook up the new router.

Or disconnect the old router, wait 2 hours or so and then connect.

Last option would be to contat support and ask them to release the IP from the old router.
