OK here's my story.
Currently paying 25 download/25 upload on my internet. Past few days noticed some lag on my
internet activity, ran speed tests on different sites and most numbers were similar and that I was getting
around 1-5mb download/ around 20 upload. But when I check Verizon's speed tests. IM getting an
amazing 30mps/30mps which IM sure is not the case.
called verizon. they said they dont see any problems at their end. did the basic troubleshooting. and reached
to the point that a new router could be the solution. got a new router. got a new IP. plugged it in and still
NO changes to my connections. Is anyone else having this problem? I have given up on verizon support. and if i cant
get solutions here. i think Optimum online is my next option.
I am in new york btw.

I know a lot of speed tests and websites are hosted through Cogent. Currently, Verizon is having a business dispute with Cogent which is most likely one of the culprits of why you're seeing slow speeds. I also see consistent issues with Level3, NTT, and Savvis. These slow speeds magically disappear if I proxy or VPN through a server that's hosted through Above.NET.
Long story short, it's not just you. Verizon's network is a complete mess at the moment and has been since May.

I'm confused, are you saying the tests are misleading and that we actually have faster speeds?
Or are you saying this dispuste is causing our slower speeds?
I just ran several speed tests on http://www.speedtest.net/ and all under 20 Mbps download speed with an Upload speed a painful 0.56 Mbps. This is not good considering I work from home and recently upgraded our account to 75/25. If this issues been going on since May, why am I paying more for something I'm not getting?

That's the question I ask myself as I fight them to cancel my service sans ETF... I currenly have 75/35 and hardly see those speeds on anything anymore. It used to be the complete opposite.

the way my internet is acting i dont think verizon speed tests which is saying 30mps download /30mps upload is accurate. http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ and http://www.speedtest.net/ are all showing low download speeds. around 1-5 mps download/20mps upload. netflix also is not streaming in HD. streams are laggy. and this test results are similar with my other laptops/pc.
Your Speed Result:
Download Speed: 2746 kbps (343.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 20907 kbps (2613.4 KB/sec transfer rate)

Like I said above, it's not just you. Tons of people have been complaining about this for about two months now. It's getting old real fast.

Ok, in all fairness, I did do the above speed test (http://www.speedtest.net/) via a VPN tunnel to work, which I understand is outside the control of Verizon. So, I did another test via a non-VPN connected computer on my home network. Those tests produced much better results; 37/32. However, those results are definitely not the paid for upgrades to 75/35. So, I'm still not sure what I'm paying extra for. Maybe fronting money Verizon system upgrades?
