When I'm home everything works fine using Apple Mail to send/receive from my verizon.net email account.
At my workplace, I can receive mail but not send it; I think port 25 is blocked. Anyone know if Verizon offers outgoing mail service via alternative smtp ports and what they are?

I've heard of this issue before with iPhones and other Apple devices, double check the below settings:
Incoming Mail Server (POP):
-- Host Name: incoming.verizon.net
-- User Name [username without the @verizon.net]
-- Password: [password]
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP):
-- host name: outgoing.verizon.net
-- user name: [username without the @verizon.net]
-- password: [password]
Advanced (this is I think what did the trick):
-- (Incoming and Outgoing) Use SSL: OFF
-- Incoming Authentication: MD5 Challenge Response
-- Outgoing Authentication: Password
-- Incoming Server Port: 110
-- Outgoing Server Port: 25

Thanks for your reply.
The settings are now as you specified but still nothing going in OR out, while at work.
Incidentally, I thought the incoming server was mail.verizon.net rather than incoming.verizon.net.
I had the incoming authentication set to APOP which worked at home; neither that setting nor MD5 challenge-response works at work.
It seems they also block port 110 which prevents all incoming mail!
As you can see, I am trying hard not to have to rely on Verizon's webmail application.

Thank you for your response. I now note also that port 110 is blocked by my workplace network, which prevents all incoming mail via Apple Mail 3.0.
As you can see I am trying not to have to use Verizon Webmail.

I know the network where I work blocks many ports. I use the Verizon Webmail while at work. Then my mail client at home can download it and clear the Verizon server mailbox.
