Slow speed with FIOS

Starting today, my FIOS internet speed is at the average 1.5Mbps for download.  I pay for the 50Mbps download plan and  I 've never seen my test speed this slow.  I did the test speed at the Verizon speedtest website.

Does anyone know of a planned maintenance that they're doing and somehow caused this?  I 'm really at a loss, because I trusted the 50Mbps download speed would be better than my old Comcast speed.  

Any advice is much appeciated.

that's highly unusual for it to be that slow.

Are you wired or wireless when connecting?

Rule out that it's a verizon problem first. 

Make sure you are hardwired
