Yesterday we noticed what appeared to be Twitter timeline wasn't updating on mobile devices (iPhone, iPad and Nexus 7 tablet) but was working fine on wifi laptops. All other apps were working fine on mobile devices.
Today, my wife and I went out and with a wifi hotspot was able to see updated timelines on iPhones. I've now come home and again no twitter feed (says no internet connection) on iPhone, but all of the other apps are working fine, as are laptops.
Error message reads "Connection Failed - unable to access Twitter - check your internet
connection. (-1009: The Internet connection appears to be offline.) All other apps work fine and Twitter works fine on other wifi networks.
This problem just started yesterday (August 13th) and we've had no prior problems for the past several years. Did some settings change all of a sudden on router?
We have an ActiontecM1424WR rev 1 router. (dual antenna).
I've spoken with some others in the area and they get the twitter feeds.
Thanks in advance for your help.

It started working again! I didn't do anything and not sure what happened but
I will bookmark this topic for future reference. Maybe just a fluke?
Perhaps someone at Verizon noticed and did something?
Keeping fingers crossed that all stays well now.
Thanks for your help and suggestions anyway, now I know how
to log into router and see what settings are there.

If you login to the router- advanced - firmware upgrade - do you see 40.20.7?
Also look at system monitoring- advanced- system logging - DO you see any errors associated with this issue?

In order to login to the router - open a browser and go here http:\\192.168.1.1 - user name = admin, & password = the multi character password printed on the sticker on the router. Note there should be extra characters when you type in the password it is a security measure.

I've tried so many times (with wrong info?) that I'm getting message to try later now!
Also, just went to McDonalds (free wifi) and the app (twitter) worked fine, stramed the timeline,
no problems whatsoever. So it must be a router setting. Very strange that every other app (mail,
safari, notes, calendar, pandora, etc) all work fine here at home on all devices.
I do appreciate you help and it's very annoying trying to resolve this, so thank you and stay with me
please.

Okay, I was just able to log into the router.
Firmware Version:40.20.7
But under System Log>Advanced I DO see several "Failed GUI Authentication" only since this problem
started on yesterday.
System Log Failed GUI Authentication Failed Login for GUI access
What's next? (and thanks again!)

Firmware is the latest so I doubt that is the issue. Log into the router and firewall settings - general - and set it to typical, or Minimum then test.
Also do you have your twitter credentials stored? If you do you may want to delete and login "fresh" Internet options - general - browsing history - check on Preserve Favorites... and check password (which will clear all stored password)
