USB connected hard drive not showing up in router

I know very little about networking & routers & MAC addresses, etc.

I plugged a hard drive docking station into my Actiontec router by USB cable. It doesn't show up in the router. What am I doing wrong? Do I need to reboot the router after plugging in the hard drive?

Ok. Is the Actiontec MI424-WR Rev. E (which I have) the most current router that Verizon has?

The usb port on verizon routers is inactive.  It's only function is the capability of charging a device.

No.  Latest is Rev "I."  Search the boards for details.
