I switched to Verizon about a month ago from Charter. The first few weeks, internet was speed and stable, but lately it's been slow and incredibly instable. Some days there will not be a problem, but other days, it's plagued with problems. I originally thought it was caused by me being wireless, but my brother, who is connected by an Ethernet cable, is also experiencing the same problem. I have tried numerous fixes, but none prevailed. Please help me out, it's so frustrating attempting to play a game, but always lagging at crucial moments.
Etc. Info:
OS: Vista x64
Router: Actiontec MI424WR-GEN2
Adapter: D-Link WDA 1320
Fios Speed: 15 download/5 upload

Looks like you are a gamer. There is a problem with bandwith intensive programs (games lol ) and the Verizon routers prior to version E. If your actiontec router is a version A-D, then you may have a problem with the tiny NAT table. So a search for the tiny NAT, there is several links over to DSL reports for how to get around or fix that issue. If you are on Version E of the router, the nat issue should be corrected and we need to look else where. At that point, tracerts and other tests can give more info.

Sorry about the way the results were pasted, but both of them showed under 20ms, but the lag will pick up usually after 8PM, when I start playing FPS games...

do yourself a favor and get a different router, although revision e has a larger nat table it's still woefully inadequate and gets overwhelmed with bittorent applications, streaming video and games. when you get the lag find out what the other people are doing on your network, or simply disconnect everyone but yourself and test to see if you get the same lag. I had that issue with a rev e and I found one of the roomates was watching streaming video (tv shows and movies) and that was killing my lag times and in some cases they had some bitorrent swarms running.
you might find something similiar.,

Well, I can't get a different router. I heard that if you bought Fios TV, you need the Actiontec. Since I bought the Triple Play, I can't replace it....
Also, no one really does anything except me now. My brother's computer doesn't do anything anymore, since he's almost always out, and the only computer that is left(that's not mine) is only turned on after 11PM. So it can't be caused from streaming, seeding, etc.

Just a dumb question, did you read that FAQ at DSLR that Hubrisnxs pointed you to?

That person who said that, has no idea of what he/she is talking about. They lied to you.

Thanks for telling me it's a lie. Anyway, I read it and it says if I'm connected by a Coax cable(which I am), I can use a 2nd router, but I can't replace it.
