Update 15/15 to 25/25

I've noticed that for new service the 15/15 FiOS plan is no longer offered, and is now the 25/25 plan. I could sign up for new service and pay what I am paying now, but receive faster internet. I'm paying the 25/25 price but stuck with the 15/15 plan. I've called Verizon and have been told I cannot receive the 25/25 speed. I was wondering if anyone else was having this same issue, and if so were you able to correct it? I don't feel it's good business to keep your current customers on a slower internet plan when the faster plan now costs the same.

Have you tried ordering online. I don't know many locations that can't get the new speeds. Do they offer 25/25 anymore I thought it was all 50 and above now?

When ordering online 25/25 is an option for new customers. I'm only given the 15/15 option when I'm signed in as myself. New Customer Signed in

Any update on this? Or are previous customers just getting the short end of the stick?

I have read in a recent article regarding the speed matching that Verizon made a decision to maintain current customers at 15/15 while offering new customers 25/25.  So even though we are now paying more we are getting less!  Remember this when it is time to renew.  Has anybody called in to complain?

Is there a possibility that the 15Mbps/15Mbps speed plan is still around due to a grandfathered service?

I am in similar situation.

About five years ago I signed up for FIOS internet, didn't need TV since we get it through our HOA. I got 10/2 plan, which at that time costed $59.99, no contracts or promotions. I payed this amount untill end of 2013 when they increased monthly payment to $67.99. An $8 hike with no changes to service. Last month, Verizon increased my monthly price to $74.99. Another $7 hike with no changes to service.

So I thought to myself, I should at least upgrade my service to 25/25 (which is available in my area) since I am paying this much. As it turns out it is not as easy as they advertise. 25/25 is not even available for me as an upgrade unless I bundle it with TV. If I only choose internet, the lowest option for me is to upgrade to 50/50 which costs $82.99. So their upgrade services really means that you can only upgrade up in monthly price, not down.

I chatted with representative and his reply was "because you have legacy plan you can't upgrade to 25/25 plan. You need to upgrade to 50/50, have new Quantum modem installed and then see if you can downgrade to 25/25. If you are able to do that you'll be paying $10 less for 25/25 plan than 50/50".

So that means 25/25 plan costs $72.99 but I am paying $74.99 for 10/2 plan and have no easy way to move to 25/25. And yes did I mention that I got FIOS more than 5 years ago. If that's how Verizon treats its long time customers, what kind of treatment do new customers get?

So I wonder if you can do the month free upgrade to 50/50 and then drop down to 25/25?  I cannot believe how bizzare the structure of what you can and cannot do based on your previous history.  It is as if the longer your are a customer, the more they turn the screws on you.  Having to pay more for 10/2 than 25/25 and not having  them fix it just illustrates how bad they are at keeping their customers satisfied.

At one point they were talking about retiring the 25/25 plan and offering only 50/25.  Now that they have speed match that becomes 50/50.  Obviously some of this is region dependent.

I've also been kicking around moving from an old Legacy Plan (10/2). I wanted to increase speed and drop some services (wire maintance) to control cost, but now I'm second guessing my limited options Smiley Frustrated

My only upgrade options were 3/1 Smiley Very Happy $8 more or the Quantrum 50/50 at $15 more after the 1st month. Can't get FiOS tv in my area, so it would be a double play choice (Internet / Phone)

Considering most devices I have aren't wireless- n, I was thinking of moving to 25/25 and keeping my Actiontec revision E router.

Been a fios customer since 2008.
