Use my own router with a CableCard for TV?

Hello, I see lots of questions on this forum asking if you can use your own router as opposed to renting one from Verizon. Seems like this is possible as long as you aren't using TV service.  I am however I am not using Verizon STB's... I have a CableCard (with a HomerunHD) that I use for TV service.

Can I still get rid of the Coax connection and use Cat5e/6 to my own router, and still use TV service to the HomerunHD with a Verizon Cablecard?

(This is more of a curiosity question more than anything. I'm planning on dropping TV service shortly anyway)

Short answer is yes.

If you already are using ethernet to rented router, just log in to it, release IP and connect your router.

If you are connected via coax, have to call and ask they provision Internet via ehternet.

Have a cable run from ONT to where your router is.
