I was wondering if there is any way to use my fios internet on vacation, even if its a dial-up.
the hotel we are staying at charges 9.95 per day for high speed internet, although there may be wi-fi in other areas.
I would like to take my laptop and basically want to check email.
thanks!

Verizon makes WIFI Hotspots available for some fios users if you have the right plan. check to see if you do. basically it gives you access through wifi hotspots at some hotels, some airports, a lot of starbucks and some barnes and nobles.
try and see if where you are going is covered.

Here is an FAQ about Verizon WI-FI
Most places offer free wifi, but if you are in an area like the OP is and they are trying to charge, then the VZ wifi can come in handy.

You can probably find some free wifi just about anywhere. Pretty much all Starbucks, for example. On my last business trip I was in Hotel A and the free wifi was really slow (1.5mbs), but I was able to connect to the Hotel B free wifi next door at 7mbs. You never know until you try.

Thank you for all the responses.
I have the lowest internet plan, so I cannot get the fios wi-fi, but I can always check for "free" locations while we are out and about.
