Went out and got a new Aiport Extreme today. Plan to set it up tomorrow as primary router - replacing the Actiontec - following the instructions at DSLReports. Still plan to have my existing Airport Extreme (previous model) running in bridge mode and the Airport Express piggybacking off of that.

If the new AE doesn't reboot itself, then we'll know it has something to do with this Actiontec. If it does keep doing the reboot nonsense, then it's obviously a much bigger issue with the FiOS network. We'll see.

sangs: Sounds like a plan. I'm waiting for the Actiontec to reboot after being moved to a secondary location. I'll follow up with another call to tier 3 tomorrow.

Surprise, surprise. Router rebooted in a secondary location after 30 hours of service. Back to tier 3 tomorrow morning. Yay.

What about the old router? Did it reboot too?

Well, I don't have the old router set up in the configuration I described above...at least not yet. It's worth pointing out that I've *never* had rebooting issues with it, however. Not once over the course over four years.

This was a final test to see if there's anything physical on my end to blame. Seems pretty clear after replacing the ONT, the router, coax and splitters that there isn't. I'm convinced that the problem is either the router, Verizon's network or both.

Interesting to see what tier 3 has to say about this tomorrow.

Possible fix ????

My Rev I Gen  3 has not rebooted since I did the following 3 days ago: I did a reset (which now results with a non hidden SSID) .. it was hidden. I also set my wireless channel to 11 (it was auto). Note I only have 2 wirless notebooks, and 1 directly wired network TV tuner (HDHomeRun Dual) and am on the 15/5 plan.

Off Topic My wireless speeds have been the same as wired (15/5) since I recently upgraded from 3/1 service (So I am very happy with that!)

JOSEm441: Sadly, I think most of us have tried all those options and gotten nowhere. 😞 Thanks for the suggestion, tho.

Looks like I'll have to postpone my call to tier 3 for at least a day. They're predicting 6-12 inches of snow here and all my kids are home. So, it seems unlikely I'll be able to carve out the time to argue with support. I'll update once I do, however.

I have been told by Verizon that If you have a CISCO STBs with combination of  Verizon router.  Then, there is a known issue with that.  The router will constantly reboot on its own.  It is a known issue and Verizon is working on it with the manufacture Actiontec.

Well, considering I'm stuck in reboot hell and don't have a piece of Cisco hardware anyway in my house, I'll take that with the smallest possible grain of salt.
