I would like to thanks Verizon Customer Services,Technical Support and Moderator as well as Verizon Rep that supporting this Forum!!! i was having download speed problem since Fios was installed but Verizon resolved that problem month later!!!Almost over 45 Days and counting no more Download speed issue.....................
Do you know what they did to correct it?
Wondering if the same fix would help others.
Changing Router or ONT didn't solve the problem!!! Tech no four(Verizon sends five Tech over a month period)ran a ground wire(Green) from ONT to the Outlet that connect not power the ONT for grounding!!!Tech also suggest to cover the ONT(Face)with aluminium foil paper to minimize any interference may cause by other Devices or Cab Service Radio Frequency but I didn't do that....................
If the ONT wasn't grounded properly, that certainly was bad. Did that fix your issue?
Don't put tin foil over the ONT. Building a proper Faraday cage is much more complicated and involves expensive filters on all the wires going through it. If you're having radio frequency interference issues (RFI) form a co-located transmitter, you should make sure the transmitter is in spec. Tin foil may create an antenna and make problems worse, not better.
Unfortunately, most Verizon techs have idea how to handle RFI. They need to stick to the documented installation methods, as those have been developed to handle a wide range of environments. Anyone who suggests tin foil clearly doesn't understand RFI issues.
My ONT is right next to my smart power meter and I haven't noticed any issues.
I agree sounds like someone has no idea what they are talking about.
ONT was grounded first time when FIOS was installed,Tech just added another layer of ground!!! And no I didn't put aluminum foil paper on the ONT!! I believe whatever fixed my download speed issue was from Verizon side.
