Hi - the same exact thing happened to me - an iMac running Mac OSX 10.6.8. (Update: just noticed this is the "DSL" forum. I'm running FIOS 25 Mb internet. So, I suspect the problem is in the IHA app.)
I'm trying to use the InHouse Agent to activate all my cable cards (as per the recent notification that activation is needed).
Looks like I'll have to use the phone system.. 😞

i like the online version of the app at www.verizon.com/repair
you can do a lot of the functions of the app without all the bloatware.

As other have said it does something, it waste resources. Not sure on the MAC, but on PC's it has been none to drive at least one cpu to 100% (If you only have one its really bad). And the number of functions it does that you might ever want to do is minimal.
Personally I recommend that you uninstall it, and make sure you get all pieces of it.
