Verizon Wi-Fi hotspot register and setup install/failure.

I can't figure out how to modify the title of the other thread, so I am creating this one to remove confusion of what I was asking.

This is for the Verizon Hotspot service, not the at home wifi from the actiontec router.

I've tried to install the wifi hotspot application on my laptop.  This is the Verizon Hotspot locator application that Verizon now offers for free.  I have Windows XP SP3, IE8 and Firefox 3.5.2

If I try the install with IE8 I get a General Protection Fault.

If I try the install with Firefox I get "The flow will not proceed due to missing hand-off Parameters."  It goes on further.

I have tried this on two laptops and get the same thing.

Any suggestions?

How are you trying to register/install?  Are you logging into your account at verizon.net?

General protection fault..can be caused by a few different things...

1. stop all programs running inthe backround..called terminate and stay resident programs...

2. Delete all temp files.

3. You may want to uninstall/ and reinstall any new hardware and software

3. Run scandisk and defrag..swap file could be corrupted

4. Could even be a bad memory issue.

5. Even could be a BIOS update..you would have to check manufacturer of motherboard to find out

Good luck hopefully you only need to do 1 and 2.
