Well it's baaaackkkkkkkk! Evidently the install and uninstall of Verizon In-home Agent wasn't the cause. I had the same symptoms again this morning. So I checked the update history again and found an update for Microsoft Word 2010 that installed early this morning. It's KB2345000, and once I again did a system restore to eliminate that one, I'm back to a normal display. When I restored last night, that update was the last one listed, but I didn't  suspect it because of the problems I was having with VIHA, so my system restore last night included KB2345000 and the VIHA ones. I'll see if this sticks and will try to keep that one from installing again.

I called tech support and found out that Verizon is having a problem with their software compatibility with Internet explorer.  They are working on the problem.  So, before trying a system restore etc, why don't we all wait and see if they get it corrected.  They have had this problem at least once before and it took several weeks for them to fix it.  I will use another home page for a while.

If you can wait several weeks, what wonderful patience you have, like Ghandi! I'll just wait for the fix while using Firefox if I want Windows updates.

My home page is now fixed.  Forum pages still garbled.  I don't like Foxfire.  I really have no need for it as I never had trouble loading any pages except for the Verizon pages.  As I tried to tell  the Verizon support representatives, this was a Verizon problem, and not a Microsoft problem as one of them inferred.  The programmers were able to fix the home pages and are probably now working on the forum pages.  Perhaps, Verizon needs to pay more for their programmers.  Let's just keep our fingers crossed because, more than likely, another problem is waiting around the corner.  I can't believe I ever complained about Comcast    It was slower but not much.  There were problems at times but not nearly as many as I have encountered with Verizon.

I agrree with topdog 100% and would never do system restores or remove Microsoft updates when it is obviously a Verizon problem that their programmers have to fix. Verizon has had many problems with their new homepage,so don't be surprised when another problem appears. Also Microsoft just made an announcement yesterday about some very important security updates that everyone with IE should download immediately. It was on the news. I'm glad they have fixed the new homepage and sign-in page and hopefully they will fix the forum pages.

Thank you, UnnDunn for your solution...it worked on both my computers.  I clicked on: Tools>Internet Options>Security>Trusted Sites>Sites>unchecked box that states "Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone>Add this website to the zone>add>close>OK

In my case, downloading the following Windows Update caused Verizon pages not to properly load:Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 8 for Windows XP (KB2360131).  Thanks again.

Bearwood, I didn't do any thing and it's working right now as I believe the Verizon techs fixed it The forum is still messed up, but they have fixed the new home page and new sign in page. We were told it was a Verizon problem with Microsoft updates, which we figured out it had to be as all other pages but Verizon were fine and the messed up pages came after I installed critical Microsoft security updates. I wrote about this in an earlier post.

Yep, that's the one that causes the problem. I rolled back all the updates for the last few days and then installed them again while checking the web site after every update. This is evidently a VZ problem because I noticed that the Norton Forum site which uses the same format and service (and is also http://), has no such problem. Long story short, get all the updates and then put VZ in the trusted sites list. FYI, mine did not work that way until I rolled them back and reinstalled them in order.

Want to see how simple the change was for the Verizon guys?

View the attachment.

They just changed the path to a style sheet by removing the "https:"

Before on the left, after on the right. BTW, only the first two lines (78,473) pertain to this issue.
