Very Poor upload to Twitch.Tv

I have the 50/50 package, but for some reason I can't upload to twitch.tv with any kind of speed. I stream using Nvidia's Shadowplay set at an upload speed of only 2.5Mbps, but my friends say the stream lags/pauses and stutters. We can see other streams just fine which indicates our download rate is okay. Any thoughts? I am over ethernet and using Verizon's Quantum gateway.

Here is the pathping to twitch.tv's ashburn virgina server:

Does your stream lag when monitoring your own stream? Does this improve during the early morning hours?

Sorry to tell you, but this isn't the ISP to use to stream to twitch. This is a known problem and you will be lucky to get 4-5mbps upload to twitch. It's been an ongoing issue because of peering conjestion with verizon for years now

Interesting. If you can prove this point with evidence I'll consider dropping Verizon in favor of everyone's favorite ISP: Comcast. Where did you read this information? Also, please explain "peering conjestion". I am ignorent of the concept.

Yes, my stream does lag when monitoring my own stream. I haven't had a chance to check the situation during early morning hours. I'll try to see how it is this weekend.

Edited to add the following image of a Pathping to Twitch.tv's Arlington, VA server:

This is for 30 pings, at 30 second intervals.

twitch always has problems.  if you're using twitch, I Would just simply assume you're going to have random hiccups with uploads.   and that doesn't have anything to do with the provider in most cases.  It's just twitch, and they need to up their bandwidth or employ better load balancing techniques.

Twitch uses CDN's so you can probably get away with switching your DNS to trick the twitch servers, or a VPN.

Just google the term "twitch.tv bad upload Insert name of various ISP here"

You'll see what I mean

I actually know that this issue is related to the ISP (Verizon). I recently moved (to a neighboring zip code) and thought I'd go with Verizon instead of Comcast. Coming from a Comcast Blast service of 50/25, I had no issues uploading/streaming/watching Twitch.tv. The only factor to change is my ISP and modem/gateway. I know my local hardware is not the issue.

Just to also put it on the record, have you tried using other regions? For example, New York City instead of Virginia. I know Telia (one of the providers you're seeing in your PingPlotter trace) has been seeing issues with Verizon as of late. You can probably pick up a better path by moving to a further away streaming endpoint.

Switching to the miami (Live-mia.Twitch.TV) server helped and it buffers much less, but only if I view my own stream from a mobile device. I read on these forums that watching your own twitch stream from the same IP causes issues somehow. I was having trouble watching other streams on "high" quality today too.

Why is there an issue with Verizon and the Ashburn server location? Is this the forum to bring this issue to Verizon's attention?

I wanted to use Nvidia's shadowplay to stream to twitch, but I had to switch to OBS in order to control which server to stream to.

Below is a PingPlotter image of 30 samples taken every 10 seconds for the Miami Twitch server. Looks like no issues running through the Telia server.
