Very horrible download speed!

For about the past two weeks my download speeds have been horrific. Feels like I'm being ripped off with DSL speeds. Here is my speed test.

I ran the Verizon TCP optimizer, no spyware, adware, viruses. Fresh clean install of xp. I reset the router numerous of times ranging from 15 seconds, to over 9 hours. I unplugged everything from the back and let it reset while I went to sleep.

My PS3 has a built in speed test and I will just say it never gets over 400kbp/s download and always has a 1.5mbp/s upload speed every time. I set the router to default settings via 192.168.1.1 and nothing helped. Both my PS3 and PC are wired via ethernet. I done just about everything I learned over the past and nothing helps. I read through the forums and no help. Someone else had this problem and he never replied to his own thread once he got a new router... I just don't know what to do anymore! Blogtv just BUFFERS. Youtube videos play for a second, and buffer for ten seconds on every video. My online games with the PS3 are horrible. I die by lag, kill by lag, can't connect to games. What do I do? Someone help please. Thanks. I'm thinking it may be the router but I don't know. 😐

Does your router have a coax cable going to the back of it or an ethernet cable? If it is a ethernet cable, unplug the router for two hours (It is imperative you leave no connection to the Internet for up to two hours to give the DHCP lease time to expire), plug your PC directly into the ethernet cable coming from the wall jack, perform a release/renew in your PC and connect and test with the router bypassed. If it is a router issue, it will be obvious in your speed test results.

I have both ethernet, and coax coming from my router... I have a coax coming from my wall through the box and battery.

Have you tried turning off the wireless? If all of your connections are hardwired there's no reason to keep it on, and it may improve your speed.

Do you have a Nvidia motherboard or network card? There's a setting called first packet that is defaulted to on and tends to effect your speed...you can turn off the setting in the Device Manager.

I don't even have that installed so that is not the problem. Let alone I'm getting problems with my PS3 also. Not just the PC.

Since your router has a coax connection, you will need to call tech support if you wish to obtain a new router -
