When Verizon installed my service they said I could change that very long password to one I was comfortable with. However, I have not been able find out how to change it anywhere on Verizon's website and there is no way to email them.

It's not done on the verizon site.
You need to logon to the router and select Wirless settings from the main menu.
Depending what security you are using you'd then select basic for wep or advanced for wpa2
I'd suggest you should be using wpa2

What password are you referring to? Your residential user name / password, that you use to sign in to the Verizon website, or the password to manage your router?

That depends on what model router you have. The Rev letter is the key.
Does the label on your router say MI424WR Rev F, I, or....????

You type 192.168.1.1 from the address bar on your browser. The user name is admin. The password depends on the model number and revision of the router. It will be either password, password1, the router serial number or the password printed on the label on the back of the router.
