Just had a few severe thunderstorms pass through Philadelphia earlier this morning, and since then any computers connected directly to the network router/modem have not been able to recieve an internet connection. The strange part is that 2 laptops in the house using the wireless connection from the modem are working perfectly fine. I've attempted to restart both the modem and the wired connected computers, however it still has not worked...
Any ideas?

Two things to try.
1). There are 4 ports on the back on the Modem/Router, move the two wired computers too the currently unused ports. IF that works, you are in business.
2). If not, try unplugging the router for a few minutes, plug it back in and see if that fixes it.
3). Unplug the computers, wait a few minutes, and then plug them back in. On many computers, the LAN connection is powered up even when the computer is turned off to allow the computer to be 'waken up' on command from the LAN.
IF those actions don't fix it, either the Ethernet hardware on the computers has been damaged by the storm, or the Ethernet hardware on the router was damaged. So the next step would be to call in Verizon, and try replacing the modem/router.
If replacing the router doesn't fix it, you probably need to replace the Ethernet hardware on the computers. That may be impossible, since Ethernet is now often a motherboard resource. If that's the case, you'll need to buy an Ethernet card and install it, and disable the on motherboard adapter.
good luck
