What are the preferred DNS servers to use for FIOS in NJ (Chatham to be specific)? Thanks.

My educated guess: For Verion FIOS, they may be the same as Verizon DSL.

I'm curious, does your connection use DHCP to get the public IP address on your router? Why not use the DNS servers being given out in DHCP? As a second resort you can always try the google DNS servers at 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

For my machines which use a static IP, I put in the address of the router (192.168.1.1) as the DNS server. The router acts as a DNS proxy and passes along all DNS requests to the server it receives as part of its DHCP address request going further up stream.

That seems logical to me especially if VZ changes the DNS server it will be no impact to the user.
