Where to get battery for FiOS box

Hello:

I am getting a beep beep sound from the battery installed in the FiOS box in the basement. The light indicates to change the battery (looks big and appears to be storage battery of some kind). How and where I can get help on this?

You can get them from Amazon for less than Verizon charges.  Just get the model of your battery and you can get an exact replacement.  Although, if you switch brands you can get the same specs, with a better guarantee for less.

You can buy them on the fios accessories page here https://teleproducts.verizon.com/fios/index.cfm/eh/DisplayProducts

or you can do what I did and get one cheap on ebay. Just search verizon fios battery.

In addition to what Walt suggested, you can probably find a battery locally that will work. My suggestion would be to get the battery type off of the installed battery and call some local sources to find out availability and cost, places like Batteries Plus, other electronic supply companies, etc., I have read that the batteries used in the FiOS BBU are commonly used in alarm systems also, don't know that for sure.

Before you do that though, the battery may not really be bad. Twice in the 2 or so years I have had the current battery the alarm has gone off. All I have done is gone in and pulled the electrical power cord from the outlet, then disconnected the battery connector, waited maybe 15-20 seconds, reconnected the battery, and plugged in the power cord. All  worked well for 3 or 4 months after the first time before the alarm sounded again, and it has been probably 5-6 months since I did it the second time. So I suggest you try this procedure first, it may save you time and money. On the other hand your battery may really be bad; have you had FiOS for over a year? If not, the battery is warranted by Verizon for a year, call them.

Anywhere that sells batteries.  It's a standard battery typically used in alarm systems.
It's only purpose is to allow your phone system to work if there is a power failure - obviously that will only work if you have old wired phones which these days most people don't.  If you don't care about that or have a generator backup just disconnect tha battery and forget about it.
