(whois) But why is something only Verizon can answer. Could be something was being done to the servers when you sent your mail. May have been under attack from Asia. My router gets constant hits. Good luck in finding an answer. Let us know if it's still happening.
I just sent to my MSN account and it flew.

We are working on the issue experiencing some slowdown in the email server taking forever to get to the person emailed. I have no ETA at this time but I'll keep everyone updated on this unfortunate occurance

I don't send or receive a lot of emails, but I just went back and looked at todays receipts (I use Outlook Express, but that shouldn't make any difference):
13 emails, most received within a minute of being sent, two that took about 6 or 7 minutes, and one that took 5 1/2 hours. My experience over the last 4 years is most emails take no more than 3 or 4 minutes at most to be delivered, so today does seem to be a little unusual. But I have seen this kind of thing two or three times before, usually resolves within 24 hours, the longest delivery time I can remember was about 13 hours. Hope this isn't a portent of things to come.....

Thanks Techman28. I knew someone was out there. I have not had the issue from my location. Strange and seems to be an inconsistant issue. The whois database on the web showed the contact information. I hope no one actually called.

This looks like a related issue. Please see this thread and the posting from Techman28. Verizon is aware of some slow downs and is working on it.

Thanks, Techman28 !!!!
I am happy to see you are working on it. Having just switched over from Comcast on Monday, I was worried that if this could not be resolved, I'd have to switch back. No way we can have e-mails taking anywhere from 5 minutes to 11 hours to be delivered.
I hope that you all can resolve this soon!
One thing I do not understand: why wasn't there a tsunami of problem reports into tech support? It seems that only a few people posted on this forum, and when I called tech support (4 times), no one seemed to be aware of the issue.
Isn't this a widespread problem?
FWIW, the issue is still alive and well. Just sent out an e-mail from my Verizon account through Outlook at 10:38 AM EST to my business e-mail address. It is now 11:01 AM EST and the message has not yet arrived.
Thanks again for working on this.
