Have you tried putting PC on 1g and router on auto?

Wan port is already negotiating to 1g.

Cat 7 at present is pure hype. It has not been certified last time I was reading up on it.

my other suggestion is to try another computer for comparison purposes only.

it would seem your system is fast enough to connect at higher speeds.

Maybe swap out the router and see if that helps.

Try disabling Energy Efficient Ethernet in your NIC. That tends to cause problems more often than not.

For seeing that when testing on Verizon you get the 940 and then 100 when on other sites; make sure you are looking at megabytes and not megabits.

When i run Verizon speed test I get megabits which is 694 or so which is around like 84 megabytes. So if you are getting 940

megabits that is by you go else where and only see around 100 megabytes.

However you have to look at the result.

if lowercase “mbps” is megabits per second.

if uppper/lowercase “Mbps” is megabytes per second.

i noticed on the speed test from Verizon it is in megabits. So....

  • One megabit per second (Mbps) equals 1000 Kbps or one million bps. It's also expressed as Mbps, Mb/sec, and Mb/s.

So the reading from the Verizon Test site is accurate.
