Wi-FI Connect not compatible with Windows8

I recently purchased a laptop with Windows 8. I attempted to download Wi-Fi connect so I can take advantage of Verizon hotspots. I travel for work so I was looking forward to being able to use it outside of my home. Unfortunately, when I attempted to downoad it I was told my computer is not compatible. Apparently, it's only compatible with Windows 7, xp, and vista. When I called Verizon, I was told that I would have to contact the manufacturer to upgrade my computer. Now, I'm not a computer expert, but what is there to upgrade to from Windows 8? If I switch to 7, vista or xp, isn't that technically a downgrade? When I was shopping for the laptop, I don't think I even came across one that used any of these operating systems....they were all Windows 8.

I'm just suprised that Verizon doesn't keep up with the latest operating systems.

I'm not sure when this happened or if it's always been true, but you can use Verizon Wi-Fi with other devices now. See http://wyang0.blogspot.com/2012/01/verizon-wi-fi-for-all-devices-mac-linux.html

Your problem is something other than WIN8.  I have an HP laptop running WIN8.1 and was able to download and install WiFi Connect.

Unfourtunately, the best suggestion I can think of is to make sure all updates are installed, then try again.  If it still doesn't work, post back with more information on your computer and someone may be able to help identify where the conflct is at. The more information you provide, the better the chance that one of the computer gurus here will be able to spot the problem.
