Windows 8 Laptop Constantly Drops Verizon FIOS Wireless Connection

Bought a brand-new ASUS laptop pre-installed with Windows a few months ago that in all other situations has worked fine except that it does not hold a connection to my Verizon FIOS wireless network at home. The laptop works fine on other wireless networks, and other devices on my home network have no problem with connection, but when I'm on my laptop loses connection after two-three minutes, is off for a minute or two, then the cycle repeats. Signal is fine when hard-wired into the router, but the wireless is unstable. Have tried assigning new channels, creating a static IP, resetting router, replacing router, updating/uninstalling/reinstalling drivers, reset the signal, reset the TCP/IP stack, and still nothing has worked. Has anybody else had this problem? Any guidance would be appreciated.

The Details
OS: Windows 8
Wireless Provider: Verizon FIOS
Laptop: Brand New Asus K55A
Router: ACTIONTEC VERIZON FIOS REV I Wireless N ROUTER MI424-GEN3

That's how it was automatically set, so yes. Should I turn it off? What role would it play in the issue I'm having?

How is this an issue?  I've turned it off in the past and never saw an effect.  It is currently on (computer and router) but when I run an IPv6 test the results say:  Your internet connection is not IPv6 capable.   Which seems reasonable as Verizon is not on the list of IPv6 participants I checked today.

In the past it was found that the Teredo tunnelling Windows attempts to set up, tends to be quite broken and has caused connection issues in the past with FiOS. I don't suspect it's a problem in this case. It sounds more to me like an issue with the wireless link itself.

To start off, driver updates from ASUS or the Wireless chipset manufacturer wouldn't be a bad thing to do. In addition, trying some different Wireless channels can also help. Relocating the router may also work, too, if it's near electrical devices such as a power meter.

dslr595148, that worked like a charm. looked at my settings and it appears my modem was automatically set with the IPv6 and IPv4 both on (Windows 8 I suppose) so I just turned off the IPv4 and no problems since. thank you!
