Xbox Live online gaming latency issues!!!

Ever since I switched from cablevision to fios last year I have had nothing but issues with online gaming.  Games like Call of Duty depend very heavily on performance.  I have tried a lot of things for the better part of a year to improve this to no avail.  Is anyone else having this issue.

Our son is a gamer and has had no issues with performance especially on that game and the new

version of Halo. What is your internet speed - maybe you need a boost?

  Good luck!

If this is FiOS being mentioned I would definitely check the quality of the connection to ensure things are coming in as they should. Call of Duty doesn't need a lot of bandwidth at all to operate. It needs 300kbps roughly of low latency, low jitter data communication (basically DSL) with some headroom for spikes in data. Now if hosting is a problem, that's something else to address. The key thing is to also try a few other games besides Call of Duty, since some games, Call of Duty and Minecraft especially don't quite have amazing netcode. If you have other systems, preferably a capable PC around it's a good idea to check for lag on there too.

I'm having the same issues. Did A LOT of reading and the problem is NOT with FiOS. FiOS INTERNET SPEED IS GREAT.The issue lies with the game developers and them implementing LAG COMPENSATION into the game for other players with SLOWER internet speeds. IT SUCKS I know. The little advice I got from tech support suggested that I put the xbox's ip address as the DMZ host. You can do this logging into your router, go to FIREWALL SETTINGS and look on the left for DMZ HOST, IF you know the ip address of your xbox enter it in the space provided, hit APPLY then reset your router. That helped me a little but I'm still searching for better settings to actually LEVEL the playing field.
