Can I keep the Verizon router and bridge another router from one of the ports? I dont want to interfer with the TV, FIOS or DVR? I just want to get a better signal in my house.

Yes and actually that would probably be the easiest solution. When you set up the new router put it in AP mode. This way the Verizon router will remain the DHCP Server. Also you should log into the Verizon router and turn the wifi off.
