I want to change my desktop from the wireless adapter that I have to a wired connection (ethernet) but I dont know what I need to do besides plug it in. I have a MI424WR router and ran a cable from the other room were the router and other comp is. The one I'm changing from wireless to wired is on windows 7

There is nothing you need to do other than plug the cable in on both ends.

Your computer will automatically switch from the wireless connection to the wired connection.

Just a note to the above, disconnect and forget the Wi-Fi network when you connect up your Wired connection. That way you don't get into a funny situation where Windows bounces between Wired and Wireless (which it does).
