IF you login to the router, then Wirless settings - Basic Security - Channel - Change it to a channel of your choice (not auto) and test speeds. To avoid a lot of trial and error you could use a tool such as : http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider/

If you have the MI424WR Rev I the login is admin/8 character password printed on the Router

My supposition would be that the OP thinks his wireless probably is OK, as he's probably on wireless-g.

What he's querying is his .71 (notice the point) upload on a wired connection.

Good catch viafax999 ! IF the wired connection is less then 1 Mb/s try a differnet Speed test such as http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest (or a differnet server via Verizon's test). Also if you have a neighbor that has FIOS check with them for similar issues.

And try downloading a "decent sized" file for real world speed testing.

Looking at both wired and wireless, it appears that you have a good internet connection.

Download speed is acceptable for both wired and wireless.

What is different is the upload speed.    The difference is that wired and wireless use different adapters in your computer.  I would suggest trying to borrow a laptop to test your router's wired connection.  If it's good with another computer you will need to replace your network adapter.
