replaced actiontec, set top box boots router offline

I've recently replaced the action tec with a link sys e1000 as my primary router. I've left the action tec on the network attached to the LAN port of the linksys. Everything works great until a bring a set top box online. The box gets an IP address but within 10 minutes the linksys becomes unresponsive and must be peer cycled. This continues unless I keep the set top boxes powered off.

Any ideas?

Try changing the ip address of the linksys.  The actiontec has a default address of 192.168.1.1.  Unfortunately Linksys usually ships with the same address thus creating a conflict.  Plug your computer directly into the linksys, key in the login.  You will usually find the info on the first page.  Change the address to 192.168.2.1.

Then turn off both routers.  first fire up the actiontec and wait till it fully loads.  Then turn on the linksys.
