I have verizon fios, Best Buy sold me a wireless router. Do i need it? How do I get on the internet on my laptop for the first time. HEEELLLPPP!!!

No, you don't need it. VZ provided you with a wireless router.
You need two pieces of information to connect to the FIOS wireless router.
1) The SSID of the router
2) The WEP (encryption) key
Both pieces of information appear on the service tag on the underside of your FIOS router.
When you scan for available wireless connections from your laptop, you should see the SSID of your router.
When you hit connect, you should be prompted for the WEP key.

However you should switch to WPA2 security over the default WEP security that was used on the older Routers. Some of the newest models use WPA2 by default, but most are not getting these.
