use 2nd router in the same house

Hi, I have recently purchased a wireless N router and am using it in my office and my house (wifi). I have the old verizon fios router that I would like to use in my living room to connect Apple TV and Xbox and wii. I have seen a post that describes how I can set it up. Silly me I did not book mark the post. 😞 Can some one help me.

I want my N router (in my office) to be Primary for wired (and wifi) connections and Fios TV and VOD (what ever a fios router is used for)

I want the additional router to be connected (in my living room near TV) so I can use the wired connections for my Apple TV and Game systems. If wifi can be enabled, I will be more happy.

Thank you

I don't see anything in that post that requires two routers.

The Apple TV, Xbox and Wii can be connected to an Ethernet Switch.

Can I do that with my Actiontec MI424_WR REV F?

An Ethernet Switch can be used with any wired Ethernet devices.  Choosing one is just a matter of knowing your topology and needs.   The MI424WR REV E & F are 10/100 Mb/s devices so an Ethernet switch (E-Switch) that is 10/100 Mb/s is what's needed and you'll choose it based upon the number of Ethernet ports needed and maybe expanded to.  Knowing that at the minimum you'll need is for; Apple TV, Xbox and Wii you'll need a 5-port, or more, E-Switch.

But lets look at this objectively.  The Apple TV and Wii are Wired or WiFi while the XBox is a Wired Ethernet device.  However there is a WiFi adapter for the XBox.

Therefore If you look at this from a networking standpoint all you need is one Router with WiFi with its 4 Ethernet switched ports and WiFi adapter for the XBox.

Which brings us to your orginal question.  It is always best to state your objectives and explain what you have and how you are presently setup and work from there.

Thanks for the reply... All of my devices are wifi Enabled... Ideally One router should work fine. Reason I am looking for a wired solution that is not piggy backed off of the Main router is that when watching HD movies on Apple TV or XBOX (actually its Xbox 360) video is choopy. so I thought If I can Connect the Extra (rev f) router I have to the Coaxial cable near the TV and use that as router to have a wired connection to my (media) devices

Thank you

If WiFi is causing HD movies to be "choppy" then an Ethernet Switch may be apropos for HD relevent devices.

Configure MI424WR as a LAN MoCA Bridge

A second verizon router might be a good solution if you are trying to get ethernet into a room that doesn't have ethernet but instead has coax only, as described in this faq.   If that need isn't there, then a simple switch (as discussed by dlipman) is a better solution.

Your set top boxes will need to be connected to the VZ fios router for VOD and guide to work.  Including an n/gigabit router will only speed up the connectivity between devices attached to the in house network as internet access will still be limited by the 10/100 gateway fios router.
