So Wi-Fi, and the speed of the Internet connection you pay for are two different animals. They have no resemblance to one another, but both contribute to the overall experience.
First of all, please tell us what router you currently use. Then, provide a speed test from http://dslreports.com/speedtest, which will tell us what you're currently getting.
To find out what Internet package you pay for, visit https://my.verizon.com, sign into your Verizon account, then mouse over "Services" and select Internet. At the next screen, click "Manage" next to My Internet.
