wireless connections

I'm sure I'm missing the obvious answer here.  Does the router have to be connected to  a computer?  I have a desktop that I would like to move to another location but there is no cable connection for the router if I do so.  I just don't remember if the router has to be connected to a computer.  Thank you

Is the router connected to the Internet?  Should be connected via a COAX or Ethernet Cable.  As long as there is a connection to the Internet you don't need a desktop connected
