Al Jazeera To Be Dropped. France 24 To Be Added.

Al jazeera america at channel 1750 is going to be dropped on december 19 and on december 2 france 24 an international news channel that is all news all the time that is in english that is broadcast from paris france will be added at channel 481 where WRNN is at for people in the new jersey/ new york area. If people want an idea of what france 24 is about you can go to their website to watch a live feed of their channel. Now why verizon chose to even add al jazeera at channel 1750 when it was also made available at channel 114 was a really bizarre move but perhaps there is another international channel that may be added in that area that will be taking its place. For those who do not know verizon is now notifyng people well in advance on a monthly basis what channels are going to be added or dropped. If you were to look at page 3 of the bill that you receive in the mail on the right hand side every month a list of channel changes are provided based on where you live. There is also on the left hand side of that page announcements about price increases that are on the way that all customers are going to be hit with whether they like it or not. Page 3 of the bill is referred to as the "need to know informartion" page. Verizon needs to be careful with their price increases to people'e bills because they do not want to be like the competition who current verizon customers dropped because of constant price increases.

Your post is a little misleading, Al Jazeera is NOT being dropped, all they are doing is eliminating the one channel. They are NOT dropping it, it will remain on channel 114.

It was added to channel 1750 first, then I thought moved to channel 114 but it sounds like they never turned off channel 1750.

...and recall that 1750 and 114 are the same QAM channel -- it is not a duplicate; it is a double mapping of the same physical channel.

Apparently,  these changes are only for those customers who receive WRNN-TV 48.  They are  the people who broadcasted Aljazeera English on a subchannel that Verizon had on channel 481 before it was removed in august when Aljazeera America made its debut on channel 1750.  FRANCE 24 will take that spot in December on channel 481.  Aljazeera America will remain on channel 114.

Hi, i am in nyc. Channel 481 is still a duplicate on channel 6 wrnntv... Do u know when or if that transition has or will take place?

hi, what's funny, is that on the set top box it states in the message section : France 24 will be added on or after december 2.....
