As a humorous (and extreme)  addendum to the OnDemand Movie policy thread.  If Verizon had as many subscribers as Netflix, then maybe the current FIOS movie policy of altering movies would be added to the late-night talk show circuit as well. (Netflix at least is addressing the problem...but FIOS so far is not and continues to present cropped movies.)

Is Verizon cropping or is it the provider (studio or broadcaster)?  My guess is that they only put what any given channel / studio provides on the system.  Still, it is an issue that prevents me from ever ordering an ON DEMAND movie from VZ.

Z.

If it's not Verizon, then Verizon can easily request that the movies are the correct version. Channels such as Showtime and HDNet Movies, and streaming services such as Vudu, CinemaNow, and Amazon do as well. After all, FIOS is offering these movies for purchase by unsuspecting subscribers. As it currently stands, Verizon is not even providing disclaimers that these are not the proper editions and (via their extended previews and trailers) are even falsely promoting them as correct . That's pretty dishonest.
