FIOS 3D Content and Information

FIOS is lagging way behind DireceTV and Comcast with regards to 3D content.  What's even worse is the lack of information available to the consumer and FIOS's in-house knowledge of content or any resemblance of a plan for 3D.

First off, how about a web page with centralized information?  Compare having to search through Verizon support blogs to other providers like DirecTV & Comcast (sorry, the blog wouldn't let me post links to those sites) organization and control of their 3D content...

Another idea, how about being able to sign up for email alerts about 3D programming and events?  The Oregon/Cal 3D broadcast and PPV replay were poorly marketed.  Further, how could you do a regular season college football game and not have the BCS Championship game televised in 3D?  Also, what about the SuperBowl and live 3d content.  Yes, the PPV selections (current about 15 or so along with another handful of HBO 3D offerings) are getting better, but how about live content (ESPN 3D, Discovery 3d, etc)???

I agree,  I would like FiOS to be pretty much the leader in everything in out there entertainment wise, but it feels like here, and with their DVR hardware they were far behind.    This would be great for you to put in the idea exchange, and if you got enough votes for it, maybe they would do something about it.  The ideas are great though.

I know that from their Blog about the 1.9 update - that they will be pushing 3d after that update, so maybe they are just waiting?  idk...

I echo the 3D lack of programming info concerns.  I have been spending lots of time searching for 3D broadcasts.  I would appreciate some centralized web site announcing 3D channels and new stuff.  Your recent lack of action on ESPN 3D (e.g. not providing) is of great concern to me especially now because you have been silent.

One of the reasons I shifted from COMCAST to Verizon FIOS was Comcast's lack of customer focus as to customer wants/ideas.  They basically got too big for her britches and ignored customer concerns and lacked communcations.  It appears Verizon is heading down that tunnel=PLEASE DO NOT.

Give us a web link or DVR notices or DVR 3D info in the menu area

A Fios user in another forum noted

A number of free (to HBO Subscribers) 3D movies have now shown up. Broadcast as side by side 3d.

Also if you go to www.verizon.com/fiostvcentral and put 3d in the search it will show you additional 3d options.

I think part of the problem is the lack of available 3D content.

ESPN 3D still doesnt have any programing in 3D (except for the world cup) from what I understand

And while D*tv does have 4 HD channels. From what I've heard is that there is not a lot of programing available for it yet. I dont have a 3D tv (not really interested in getting one either lol ) but from what I've been reading, the lack of programming is what is holding a lot of this up. If what I read is true, I dont blame Verizon for not adding it yet. Why add ESPN 3D if they only one a single 3D game? Same with the other channels. If there is not enough programing to justify carrying the channel why take up the space that could be better used for other HD programming?

Agree 100%!!!    Content is more important than adding channels that aren't yet up-to-speed.  Look at TCM-HD...THAT channel has been available for around two years and yet they STILL have ZERO HD content.

Right now, I think FIOS has more 3D available than Blu-Ray does.  And they also have an occasional sporting event in 3D as well.

ESPN 3d has been on FIOS since April 5th.   Most of the time in runs thru constant repeats of some older events.  Occassionally a major new event is covered.  The Masters and the NBA Finals for example.

3Net was suppose to be planned to be added sometime, but FIOS hasn't mentioned it recently.

In addition to the HBO 3d VOD mentioned Starz 3d VOD is available.

They following were the Free (to subscribers) 3d offerings as of a few days ago.  Sorry Avatar fans, it was in 3D on HBO a few months ago but is now gone.

HBO

  • Clash of the Titans
  • How to Train Your Dragon
  • Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole
  • Shrek Forever After
  • Final Destination: Death Trip 3D

Starz

  • Alice in Wonderland
  • A Christmas Carol
  • Resident Evil
  • Step Up 3d
  • Toy Story 3 3D

I agree the lack of any information about live programming for 3D is really poor business.  I am dfinately changing plans if they don;t do soemthing soon?  I better not find out you can see soem of the Olympics in 3D but not if you have Verizon.

That's curious. There's so little new 3D content that DirecTV announced that there cutting back the 3D hours of operation. They've been "looping" what little content they have.
