Verizon FIOS signed a multi-year agreement with the Universal Sports Network to carry its signal on FIOS on October 7, 2013. Published here - http://newscenter.verizon.com/residential/news-articles/2013/10-07-universal-sports-network-announce... Yippee! But what is taking so long for them to give us an authentication link on the Universal Sports Network web site, so we can sign-in and have access to the same live streamed sports-casts as other Cable/Sat. providers (Bendbroadband, Bright house Networks, Century Link, Direct TV, dish, GCI, Hawaiian Telcom and Time Warner Cable). The 2014 Winter Olympics begins in February, but my two year agreement with Verizon is up in January. Verizon please don’t make us switch to Time Warner, give us our USN sign-in link so we have access to program on both venues – FIOS TV and the USN Website.
Here is the current (11-18-13) USN Sign-In but it looks like this forum does not support HTML code so you'll need to click the blue hyper-link, that should display in a new browser window.

Funny how the Olympics are about to start and the one channel devoted to sports has suddenly become a PREMIUM channel. Also, interesting how the cable monopolysts have resorted to the tactics of your typical heroine dealer.

It was a free preview that ended on Jan. 31. (And it's carrying absolutely no Olympics coverage whatsoever.)
This is from Oct. 7. http://newscenter.verizon.com/residential/news-articles/2013/10-07-universal-sports-network-announce...
In that article - again, dated Oct. 7 - you'll see that it says Universal Sports Network is available to customers with the Ultimate package or through the Sports Pass package.

I happened to have been subscribing to the Ultimate package when Universal suddenly became available...so I want to stress that the Olympics coverage is NOT going to be on Universal Sports but on the NBCSports channel, which isn't Premium, I don't think. And on NBC itself. And like last time, they'll probably repeat it overnight. And if you have a computer or tablet, you can watch on line with a FIOS Verizon app or password for the NBC Sports extra app.
I was pleased to be able to watch all the figure skating competitions this year on Universal, though NBC's sound engineers (or whatever the appropriate title) have pretty much ruined my enjoyment. I can barely hear the music over the endless noisy narrative.
The sports package included in the Ultimate package costs $9.95 extra a month, I think, and you can add it separately if you don't want, say, the Hallmark channel or whatever other channels are thrown into Ultimate If you're a tennis fan, the Sports Package also includes the Tennis Channel.

I agree! A very poor decision by Verizon with not even a near equivalent channel offered as a replacement. Paying the same amount for a channel package with less channels. Just not a good move for your customers right before the Olympics are about to start. I will defintely be considering another service provider once my 2 year agreement expires.

Most tv providers like verizon fios ,directv, comcast, etc. ,Will sometimes turn on channels you might not normally receive like HBO,STARZ,SHOWTIME,or UNIVERSAL SPORTS,or sports packages like nba league pass, for 3 or 4 days for FREE! in hope that you'll want to keep them and pay for them ,After the FREE PREVIEW is over they turn them off,Unless they are in the package you are already paying for.
