MSNBC, keeping this topic hot, keeping everyone informed

We just got FiOS about 2 weeks ago and generally enjoying it.  I tried to do the 'stare and compare' of the channels between VZ and Cablevision and just gave up.  I just checked to see if they had a few key ones and figured, it was close enough.  When we're talking over 500 channels each, it's a huge undertaking to see where they match & mismatch.  (BTW, for any geeks out there who want to do a mashup website comparing all of the channel selections for all of the providers out there...unless there already is such a site.)

Big mistake was not checking MSNBC.  Of course, by now, I've learned all there is to know about the Cablevision exclusivity contract and how VZ was not included.  Do a search on this board and elsewhere and you can find out why you don't have MSNBC (if you don't have it).  But we can't let it go at that!

1. I'm contacting MSNBC to see if they care or are doing anything on their end.

2. I'm calling Cablevision to complain and ask them to release the exclusivity.  Not that I would, but if they ever want me back, they've gotta' play nice.

3. Contact the FCC.

4. Posting here to keep the topic uppermost and keep the heat on VZ

I was never a huge fan of CNN, but after watching MSNBC so regularly, the difference is jarring.  Wolf Blitzer, Rick Sanchez, Lou Dobbs....run away!!

I feel the same way.  Fios generally is good.  However, I was very upset and disappointed when I realized that Fios doesn't carry MSNBC.  This needs to change.

For your information, a lot of people watch MSNBC and love it.  You've even watched it.

It must not be available in your area because I have MSNBC on my FIOS line-up.  I'm in the South Jersey area.  Hopefully you'll get it soon.

Thanks TIm.  Yes, historically, certain areas of NJ were not covered by Cablevision and so VZ can offer MSNBC.  I don't know the full history exactly, but there's plenty on the web about it if you search.  It's an exclusivity thing from when Cablevision signed up to carry MSNBC when it first started.

The point here is to make sure that it stays a hot topic on the board so we Verizon can know how important it is.  (yes despite the fact that some people don't watch it.)
