I actually watch the WFNHD and this was one of the reasons for switching to fios.  My contract says rates guarenteed for 2 years and this channel was included. This is clearly a violation of the agreement. In order for me to get that channel, and the others which I currently get, I will need to pay more. I will be discussing with Verizon and taking action.

The channels don't go away unless you change to the new package. I have certain channels in my Extreme HD (2009) package that aren't in the new Extreme HD package, so I will not be signing up for it. It's not a breach of contract in my opinion, but it is pretty confusing. I'll say it again though- MAKE SURE the channels you want are included in a new package before signing up.

Not true.  If you have an existing HD Extreme subscription, you WILL lose some channels.

Now where did I put that ATT number???

I bought my Extreme HD package in 2008.  So far I have not lost any of the channels mentioned in the Verizon announcement, so I have no idea what that means.  My 2 year contract is up in April.  I don't know what is going to happen, but a Verizon rep told me they "might" raise the price at any time, as they are allowed to.  This is crazy.  Every month it's like a guessing game--what will my bill be?  This the main reason I left Brighthouse and went over to Verizon.  They just started indiscriminately raising my bill with no explanation.

If Verizon start doing that--I don't know what recourse I have, but aren't there any laws at all that protect consumers from the cable companies just raising rates?

Also we would love to get rid of our land line telephone, but the rep also told me that if we do, our bundle would change, and I could lose the Extreme HD package I have now!  Sorry, but this is **bleep**.  I have to keep a phone line I don't want just to keep the channels I have?

What channels have I lost? Go ahead and tell me, because I have not noticed one channel being gone.

I said it in another thread, but this will happen when channels raise their wholesale costs. We will continue to demand that our provider carry channels, then we will demand they carry them on a basic tier, and finally we're outraged when channels are moved or our costs rise.

What they mean is they may change packages and rates at any time, so what is available now might not be in April. Trying to get you to a new package before yours expires in April. My 1 year commitment was up Nov 2009, and my 2 year price deal is up in Nov. 2010. Lets see what happens to the channels, so far they are still there.

I believe the link should have said, if you ordered the Fios TV Extreme HD after January 17,2010 the following channels below will no longee be available in the new Extreme package.

I will get this clarified. I still have these channels in the Washington D.C. Metro area out of VHO4.

There is the Extreme 2009 package and the New Extreme package, if you do a comparison you must select the plus sign at the bottom of the list to comapre the older with the newer. I do not think they are taking channels until your bundle expires. That is how it has been in the past. Unless you change bundles your lineup should be the same. I hope to here from a Verizon employee here very soon.

couple of questions about all of this.

currently i have the extreme package with the hbo/cine/movie package... so i pretty much get every channel offered. i pay a cool 139 a month or something.

now, looking at the ultimate package, it includes the showtime/tmc which are currently a part of the 'movie package'. so if i upgrade to the new ultimate hd for 119.99 a month, plus hbo/cine for 22.99, i would be paying 142.98 a month.

now, the hbo/cine/movie package price is 36.00 a month.

so basically the only thing i would be losing out on if i upgraded to the ultimate hd plus hbo/cinemax (without the add-on movie package) would be the starz/encore, right? it certainly doens't make sense to me to spend an extra $14 a month to get starz/encore.

also, does ultimate hd come with epix or not? i swear a tech i spoke to on the phone said it did, but after looking at the channel listings, it doesn't seem to.
