NHL Center Ice - HD

Looks like FIOS only has one HD channel for Center Ice.  Is that right?  We switched from Directv recently - only because FIOS now had hockey package.  On Directv, multiple games were in HD.

Verizon and cable companies get thier sports package feeds from iNDemand, which only has one HD channel per package. Most local cable head ends don't even carry the HD channel at this point, so one channel is probably what we're stuck with for a while.

Everything's relative I guess.  We just switched from Comcast and are definitely pleased with the additional HD games.  In our area, we weren't getting the NHL Network games in HD nor the CI GameHD channel.  The first two Penguin games have all been in HD as is tonight's game.

Of course, DirecTV currently isn't getting Versus which is bad news come playoff time.

Tonight is the second time in a row that the MSG feed of a Rangers game was not on. It wasn't like a "local blackout", when the screen is black, but instead a stat sheet same as GAME 2. Is there some sort of bizarre restriction that Verizon isn't allowed to carry MSG content on NHL Center Ice outside of the NY sports region? The Kings (FS West) feed was available for this game in both SD and HD.

I did some searching, and it looks like MSG has pulled its feeds from NHL Center Ice due to a contractual dispute. There is a section about MSG HD at the bottom of the page at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MSG_Network#cite_note-4

There are also a couple references listed in there. It looks like Cablevision is in a dispute with the NHL over ownership of the Rangers website, which the league took over, and Cablevision wants to control. Wow...Cablevision has even managed to punish sports fans outside of its footprint!

Just wanted to make my voice heard on the one HD channel on the NHL Center Ice.  I understand what a previous posters says about getting the feed from iNDemand and them only having one feed per sport. Still makes me unhappy.

I got the Center Ice package to watch a lot of hockey, not just my favorite team.  I would like to see them start to broadcast multiple HD channels.  I saw a listing for a game on NHL6/HD2 for the first time tonight, and when I switched to it, it was in standard definition.  Maybe this is something they are rolling out now. *shrugs*

All this being said, if there is not at least one more HD feed for Center Ice next year, I will not renew. I can see my Bruins play all the time on NESN, but as an avid hockey fan, I like to see many other games and I am not watching SD on my beautiful TV.

I hope these forums are at least looked at by Verizon. I plan on at least sending a letter to them, a phone call, and an email.  I am hesitant to believe it will do good, but at least I will know I did what I could before next season.

inDemand does now have 2 HD feeds. Verizon, at this time, does not carry the 2nd HD feed.
As a fellow hockey fan, I feel you pain. I can not watch hockey in SD for long, especially on the inDemand feeds.
