I have a DirecTV account for my lake house, but Verizon Fios here at home. I was probably in the first ten people in my city (Flower Mound, TX) to sign up for Fios. I've been loyal, but... it would be very easy for me to change and I personally know the owner of a service provider/installer for DirecTV, so I can quickly get up to speed at home with a new service provider, but if I do that, I'm dropping Verizon entirely. Their pricing is already through the roof and frankly, I am tired of dropped Internet service, low speeds and the fact that they are not in favor of Net Neutrality. I missed the opening of the SEC Network, thanks to Verizon not having it already, and... the speeds they provide for the price are out of line with what can actually be done for far less. Residents in many communities are getting Google Internet, at speeds of greater than 1Gbps. Another community I'm aware of (Lafayette, LA) has 1Gbps Internet service for their citizens available for $65 a month. That's about what Verizon charges for the "screaming fast 50Mbps service".

I will go about one more week of this BEE ESS and then I'm making the change. Read that Verizon Admins? A very long-time subscriber (four HD DVR's, all the movies, Quantum internet). Gone.

Fix this by end of next week.

I am now at peace.  I will not beg FIOS again.  My wife almost died recently, but is on the road to recovery.  My priorities have changed over the past week.  SEC football is a huge part of my life, and I will simply change carriers rather than fight the angst with FIOS.  They don't care so I don't care.  Upper management at FIOS must be soccer fans without a clue of what the customer base really wants.

I'm not a big Bill Mahr fan, but he did say that now that football season is here, it points out just how insignificant soccer is!  (or words to that affect).

I suppose its Direct TV on Monday.

I reside in Texas and as soon as Verizon Fios was offered in my city, I jumped in with all 4's: TV, phone and internet. I am one who is loyal to a fault when it comes to making a choice and sticking with it. However, I am also someone who dislikes being taken advantage of especially in situations involving big companies turning a deaf ear to their customers. This is precisely what is happening with Verizon dragging their feet inre SEC Network negotiations. Like many in this forum have noted, Verizon is not the only cable company in town, and the deals I am being offered on a daily basis from AT&T Uverse make it a no-brainer to make the switch. We will be in line at our local Verizon store to return all of our equipment on the 28th if a definitive agreement has not been announced one way or the other prior to that date...and yes, my scheduled appointment for Uverse installment is on the 27th.
You ARE losing customers, management. In my case, you are losing a customer who has never once failed to pay on time each and every month. If you are reading these 40+ pages of posts on this matter, you ought to be very concerned over the overwhelming collection of negative voices of your customers.

Umm ... that's not how life works.  When you're talking about deals for millions of $$$, there's going to be negotiation over the rates.  It's not like they're buying a ham sandwich where the price is $5 and you can either buy the sandwich or not buy it.

(Unfortunately, Verizon waited so long so they are no longer negotiating from a position of power.)

It looks like many others have come to the same conclusion that I have...it is time to look at other tv and Internet options. All the other major carriers have signed in so there are plenty of options in Dallas/FW. The clock is ticking Verizon...

Verizon by waiting this long you've made my decision for me.  I am now searching for a new provider and gladly so I can watch the SEC Network.  The next time you hear from me it will be my call to cancel.  Adios

You aren't talking to Verizon here. These are peer to peer forums.

Hello All SEC Network Folks,

While we may not be "talking" to Verizon by posting on these forums since they hide behind their walls and will not respond to legitimate customer requests, they are certainly monitoring the forums closely.  I believe Verizon just cut me off so I'm not sure if this will get posted, or if it will immediately be taken down, but keep up the good fight.  I recieved a "private" message from Verizon that said I violated the terms of service by referencing a prior post they sent me.  OK, go hid behind the lawyers and PR guys and corporate communications.  We know that subscriber's interests don't really matter until they start to show up on the bottom line.  Let's show up on the bottom line.

Please cancel your Verizon service now and go with a provider that is carrying the SEC Network (almost any other cable service).  You will not be getting the SEC Network any time soon on Verizon.  Verizon is trying to play hardball with Disney/ABC/ESPN and go to the mat with them (as the PR folks will spin -- all in the name of keeping the Verizon rates low).  Unfortunately, Verizon, with their smallish subscriber base and being the last holdout on the SEC Network has no leverage.  Please show your displeasure with Verizon's actions, and their complete lack of communication and candor with their customers, by doing the only thing that they will pay attention to - cancelling your subscription.

My Verizon bill usually averages $215 for Cable, Internet and Phone.  Not sure how much proft there is in there for Verizon, I assume a good amount, but they will be losing it next week.  Withour the SEC Network, I see no reason to hang onto them.  I am am looking at Dish or Direct TV,  Can anyone please give me recommendations on which one is better?

I was with DirecTV from 1998 until this past May. I was very happy with their service. I would highly recommend them. Their packages are decently priced and I really liked the DVR. I moved to VZ thinking they would be the ones to get the SEC Network since they had stepped out to get the Longhorn network.
