Well, I'll have it for the rest of my current billing period (pro-rated) so it won't just be for 3 hours.  Anyway, I have a saved chat with a Verizon rep who said I can upgrade to Extreme and then downgrade back to Preferred for any reason without penalty and without affecting my contract. In the end, I may only really need it for the first game.

It is now Tuesday 8/26 at 1PM Pacific time and with no official announcement from Verizon they have lost another customer to Dish. Dish will be installed tomorrow and then I pull the plug on Verizon.  Thanks for keeping your customers informed.  I will now be able to watch SEC games but also PAC 12 games plus saving $45 over Verizon.  LATER!

Wow, maybe if you read the posts above yours you would see there was an official announcment.

I've done two online chats since the announcement, and both times it was confirmed that I have access to SECN on 75 starting today.  However, HD will be available for my area (Northern VA) for the first game on Thursday since I have Ultimate package.  Hope it's true!

The network will only be in HD in TX and FL, so if you are in Northern VA it will only be in SD. Stupid I know.

A Verizon official informed me that Verizon wants to evaluate demand for the SEC Network in non-SEC states before Verizon makes the commitment to broadcast the network in HD. Accordingly, Verizon will only show the network in SD for now. In my opinion, it appears as though Verizon thinks demand for the SEC Network in non-SEC states is low. If customers in non-SEC states watch the network in greater numbers than expected and demonstrate high demand, then Verizon will commit to broadcasting the network in HD.

No doubt that Verizon management are not College Football fans for them to support such a STUPID decision! Way to go Verizon glad to see that you listen to your customers!

Eh, on 2nd thought I'll just use a friends login for WatchESPN to cast the game on my tv.  Verizon doesn't deserve any more of my money.

Glad to have the SEC Network, and I really think it is due to everyone here and everyone calling/emailing/tweeting and never stopping. I truly think they would not have offered it if we had just remained silent and not kept the pressure on them.

Now the fight starts to get it in HD in ALL markets. Verizon is the only provider to not offer it in HD across the board. Why can't they just make things simple and make it available in HD to everyone??

Many things bother me as to how this SEC Network thing was handled by Verizon.

The last item,,is that the agent that I chatted with yesterday said,,and since I am not allowed to repost a  private communication I will paraphrase:

The Verizon Forum says that the SEC will l only be available in SD Outside the SEC Footprint,,but if what your saying is factual then with the Ultimate HD TV plan it will be available in HD in California

Yes, rest assured before the game starts you will be able to watch it on your TV,,,Now: let me help you check your options on a new 2 Year Contract.

I was lied to,,and fortunate enough to wait before I signed up until the channel appears on my TV.

Even though I was "assured" it would be in HD In California,,,apparently it will not be!

Mr or Mrs. Moderator,,Help me understand Why I should I trust what I am told .by a paid employee of Verizon in the future?

If it's SD,,it must be time for Direct TV! Time to move my $12K to a company that will respond to it's customers!
