STB price increase

I have two set top boxes and one digital adapter. I am payiing just under 20 dollars a month in rental fees for all three. According to my June bill each device will have its rental charge increased by two dollars. That's a 30 % price increase! For the digital adapter, going from 3.99 to 5.99 is a 50% price increase! Even though I am on a two year contract, these increases are not part of the contract pricing. It was because of games like these that I moved from Comcast to FIOS. Guess its time to start lookng into  cable cards and tuners.

Right you are! I am also a convert from Comcast and was the first FIOS customer on my street. However, I now see a pattern of guaging from our Virizon friends. The door swings both ways and I am strongly in the mood dto unplu FIOS and go back to Comcast since dthey have been offering some neat discounts llately.

They are pricing themselves out of business.  It is a shame.  Is it greed or just plain stupidity on the part of management?

What really gets the blood boiling is the advertisements I hear 20 times a day that you get HD multiroom DVR free for life with new contracts. Now, at over $200/month, It would be cheaper for me to switch back to Comcast and pay the early termination fee.

I had the exact same thing happen on this month's bill, and I, too, had a 2-year contract.  Did you ever hear back from Verizon or did you contact them via phone?

Can Verizon legally do this - i.e. just increase prices - without a notice?

And I will definitely be heading to cable.  They increased my STB fees by $6 a month (for 3 boxes), which will be an additional $72 in the course of a year.

Can someone tell me when and how this new gouge was announced? Checked all of my email and don't see it. Just got off the phone with customer support and was told that only the bundle price was guaranteed for the life of my contract, not equipment and "other" charges. Time to cut down the trees and put up a dish.
