Seriously, TV Guide Network HD?

Folks up in VHO6 (New england) reporting that TV Guide Network HD has been added to channel 694.  With all the HD channels customers have been asking for, Verizon once again adds one NO ONE is asking for?  TVG's ratings are so poor, owner Lionsgate has been trying to dump them for a year.

WHY NOT??

I want every channel in HD, and not just the SD channel!  This is yet another channel I won't give the time of day to in SD.  In HD, maybe I'll graze.  Plus they are about to be sold, so who knows what kind of programming is coming.

Then they can remove the SD channel!  So TVG is a welcomed addition.

First of all, they are not and cannot remove the SD channels.  Verizon has FAR too many SD boxes in service to ever consider doing that.  While I agree, let's get all the HD available, given the constant struggle to find HD space Verizon has, to give a slot up to such a worthless network is very disappointing.  Sounds to me like a contractual requirement.

Probably a contractual requirement combined with being available to more viewers based on packages. That's why there's not much of a priority (so far) with CBS Sports Network HD and even less for Fox Soccer Plus HD.

You are probably correct considering that TV Guide Network SD was forced on all the providers, including Verizon, because they own the patent on the basic Guide format that they all use.   You want an interactive Guide, you have to carry the channel.  Same reason TV Guide logo appears on Verizon's guide even though the actual info comes from F.Y.I.

When is this channel being rolled out in NYC?  Still not up as of Monday 12/17 8am.

Any other HD Channels coming before New Years?

Obviously, this thread was started prematurely.

Today is 12/26 and neitherTVGuide HD .... or any other HD channel has been added here in the NYC VHO5 area.

Any word on new additions?

Verizon adds channels by VHO in phases.  They likely paused over the holidays as well.

I still do not know why the TV Guide HD channel has not shown up yet in VHO7, BUT it says that my region should get it, because it is on the VZ website channel guide.

Other VHOs have recieved this channel well over a month ago. What is taking so long?
